Resident Steering committee

Roles & Responsibilities of the Steering Committee

​

  1. Attend approximately 12-14 monthly steering committee meetings and attend 4-6 community engagement meetings during the PRI process.

  2. Dedicate at least 5 hours a month for the duration of the PRI process. Hours are dedicated towards community engagement events, steering committee meetings​​ and other sub-committee meetings

  3. Each member must sit on at least one sub-committee such as housing, public space, health & safety, arts & culture, mobility, economic development (employment micro-enterprise development etc.), environment, communications and more during the planning process.

  4. Serve as the voice for the community and provide expertise and knowledge to Better Family Life

  5. Identify and gather residents or community members to join community engagement meetings

  6. The steering committee will develop one community initiative as a response to the needs of the community

Eligibility

Up to 15 members will be selected to participate on the steering committee. Residents within the study area are all eligible to apply. Better Family Life is looking for individuals with some of the following attributes:

  1. Familiar with your community/neighborhood

  2. Passionate about community development and revitalization

  3. Participates in or organizes community events or activities.

  4. Able to work with others even when ideas clash

  5. Always conduct themselves in a professional and cordial manner
